Dry the bracket and the irritated area with a tissue, roll approx. 1cm of wax between your fingers until it is soft and warm, gently mould the wax around the bracket irritating you. IT MUST BE DRY TO STICK. You may use Brace relief to numb the ulcer.
Tip: Salt water mouth rinses will help fight Ulcers and prevent them from re-occurring in the future.

If you can see the wire in the bracket, your bracket gate is open. If you can, use your finger to hold the wire in place and push the gate closed from the bottom, you will hear a small click.
If the bracket has closed and you cannot get the wire in, call to make an emergency appt.
Tip: check them each time you brush and no sticky food.

How do I clean my braces?

Angle your soft bristled toothbrush horizontal to the bottom of your braces and move your toothbrush in small circular motions, ensuring you move from one side to the other without missing areas.

Angle your toothbrush the same way as above, but this time, perform the same motion on the top of you braces, remembering to take your time.

After carefully brushing around your braces you can move onto the tops of your teeth, slow strokes can be used on the top or your back teeth, but be careful not to contact your braces. Be sure to angle your toothbrush sharply to ensure you clean the area behind you lower front teeth. This is sometimes tricky so take your time and be careful.

When finished on the lower jaw, you can move to the upper. Clean around all areas as above ensuring you don’t miss areas.

Finally, you can lightly brush over your tongue to remove and food residue. Rinse thoroughly.

When you’re out you may get food caught in your braces. You should always carry a ‘TePe brush’ provided to you and you may purchase more when you run out. The TePe brush acts like a toothpick for people with braces and will help you remove any tricky pieces of food caught under your wire.
